Seafarers Yacht Club: two summers of teaching kids to chart their digital course
Since July 2025, Hacking the Workforce has been the cybersecurity session at the Seafarers Foundation Summer Youth Program at the Seafarers Yacht Club in Annapolis. About 40 young people aged 8 to 12 each year, 75 minutes, one promise: you can protect what matters to you online the same way you protect yourself on the water.
What we taught
What a password is and why it matters, how to build one that is strong and easy to remember, and the promises of a good digital citizen. The 4C model, sized for eight-year-olds.
How we taught it
Think-pair-share, not lecture. "What do you protect, and how?" opens the room; the water-safety habits the program already teaches become the bridge to online safety.
Why it fits
The Seafarers Foundation exists to empower young lives and strengthen families. A kid who can keep a game account safe at nine protects a bank account at nineteen.

Two summers in pictures
No child is recognizable on this page by design: backs of heads, hands, the room, the water, and Dr. Mojidi. One short clip beats a gallery. Open on the room, cut to the think-pair-share, end on the Foundation lead's line. Host the file in site/_assets/; no YouTube embed, so no tracking cookies on a page about kids.
Run a youth program, a camp, or a school? We bring the session to you.
How you can help
Send the next group of kids.
Kits, snacks, and a teacher in the room. That is what a youth session costs.
