Security · Coaching and mentoring
Students get mentored. Professionals get coached.
Two different relationships, on purpose. Mentoring is long-term and about who you are becoming. Coaching is short-term and about the next move: the interview, the role, the raise.
Mentoring · for students
Pick a mentor. Keep them for a year.
- For high school and college students, and ACCESS Granted trainees
- You choose your mentor from practitioners across cybersecurity domains
- Monthly check-ins, a GitHub portfolio you build together, homework help and test prep when you need it
- Mentors are vetted, trusted members of the security community
- Free for students in our programs; Sponsored seats available for those who qualify
Coaching · for professionals
A coach for the next move.
- For career changers, early-career technologists, and practitioners aiming higher
- 30-minute first session, $60: where you are, where you want to be, which coach fits
- 1-hour sessions, $100: interview prep, a live project, a technical skills review, a career pivot
- Executive and dissertation coaching by arrangement
- Blocks of hours and student rates on request
Our method, proven in the Cybersecurity Career Launchpad (May 2025)
Four sessions, one plan you write yourself
Led by a CISSP- and CISM-certified coach with 25 years in IT and cybersecurity and a first-generation college graduate's view of the climb. Every session ends with homework that becomes a page of your own career development plan.
The homework that does the work
After Session 1 you name three non-technical strengths, two honest limitations, three NICE work roles that interest you, four skills you have, four you need, and three actions to close the gap. You submit it on a form before the next session and defend it out loud. The plan is yours by the time you finish.
How a cohort runs
Live session, recording highlights within days, study hall notes, a supplemental resources list (CyberSeek, NICE, work roles mapped to certifications), a 5-minute anonymous survey after each session that changes the next one, and a question form open all week. Agile, not a lecture series.
How this page earns
Three doors, each a funnel in FG Funnels. Free first, paid second, program third. Every submission is tagged so follow-up is automatic.
Mentoring is not a funnel: students apply, mentors volunteer, both through Welcome. Two forms, tags mentee-apply and mentor-volunteer.
Quote to come, with written consent.

How you can help
Be the mentor or fund the seat.
Students get mentored at no cost because donors and mentors cover it.
